Thank You G.K.

A fellow adoptive parent pointed this article out to me.

It is so disturbing to me that Kourtney Kardashian could so easily dismiss the idea of adoption. It wasn't even worth considering to her. But abortion was?!?!?
"I definitely thought about it long and hard, about if I wanted to keep the baby or not, and I wasn't thinking about adoption"

Why is it that so many women and girls view abortion as an option, but the idea of placing the child for adoption seems unthinkable?

I certainly don't want to get into a debate on the topic of whether abortion is right or wrong. So please don't start one here. You're not going to change my mind on the topic, so save your breath (or typing).

As an adoptive parent I can tell you beyond a doubt that adoption is a miracle. The love I have for my youngest son is unconditional. It is every bit as real and as strong as the love I have for my biological children. I would give my life for him. He is well loved, well cared for and he is happy. And all because his first mother made a very miraculous choice. She gave birth to him! She carried him for nine months, all the while knowing she could not take care of him once he was born. And yet.... she gave birth to him anyway. She gave him the gift of life, of hope, of a chance. In so doing she also gave my husband and I the gift of a son. She gave us all the gift of family and love.

Not a day goes by that I do not think of her and wish the very best for her. I will be forever grateful to her for the decision she made three and a half years ago. Thank you, G.K. for not being selfish and putting your/my/our son first.
