How Can I Not?

Some people ask, "how can you ask for money right now?"
"how can you ask people to donate at a time like this?"
"how can you expect people to give when the country is in a recession? when people are losing jobs? when everyone is tightening their budgets?"

My answer is simple. How can I not?

Yes, I do realize money is tight right now. Does that mean that I can't ask people to help a little boy like Damon? A child with no mother or father to love him. A child with no one to let him know that he is precious. A child with no one to hold him close, to hug him, to let him know that he means the world to them. How can I not ask for people to help him?

I am also encouraging people to donate toward the mission trip of Two Hearts For Hope as they will be traveling to Kazakhstan to build a playground at an orphanage there. This is a place full of children with nothing. If their lives can become less miserable by the addition of a wonderful place to play.... then, how can I not ask people to give?

Times are tough for most everyone right now. I understand that. Believe me! I understand that all too well. And yet I will ask for people to help those in need. I will ask if you are willing to sacrifice your cappacinno for a week and give that money toward Damon's adoption grant instead. I will ask if you are willing to skip taking your family to a movie so that you can put that money toward the playground for the orphans in Kazakhstan. I ask if you would be willing to give up just one thing, for one week and give the money to any worthy cause.

I ask because, how can I not?

Matthew 25:40, "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."

"Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due when it is within the power of your hand to do so." Proverbs 3:27

"We know what true love looks like because of Jesus. He gave His life for us, and He calls us to give our lives for our brothers & sisters. This is a portrait of true love. If a person owns the kinds of things we need to make it in the world but refuses to share with those in need, is it even possible that God's love lives in him?..." 1 John 3:16-17

"Do unto others as you would have them do to you." Luke 6:31

How can you not?

  1. I am sure those who are asking are not used to being in their financial tight spot. Those of us who know what it is to live by faith for every provision give more readily knowing we have received so much already how can we not give to show our gratitude? Of course, we also realize that if we need $1500 and only have $250, may as well give it to the person who only needs $250-there's no reason both families should be without! LOL! Keep up the good work Kim!

  2. I always remind myself that if times are tough for me, they must be so much tougher for those who have little or nothing.

    Great post!
